It wasn't until my sixteenth year in the summer of 1965 that tangible symptoms began to appear. I somehow became drawn to gambling. I was first exposed to it at my grandparents' house on my father's side of the family. Every major holiday there would be a poker game in the downstairs bedroom of the spacious suburban home just a mile away from Crowsville. I was, of course, too young to play. My begging to get into the game was just ignored.
